Belonging Project updates

27 Jun 2017

Year 5 and 6 have been working hard to put together their performance of Belonging. See below for regular updates on how the groups are doing.

Update - 29th June 2017

Today we had our first complete run through of the performance. It was nice to see how the story develops across the different scenes, which until now have been rehearsed independently.

Update - 27th June 2017

Tickets have been selling fast at the school office! £3 for one or £5 for two.
See the below poster for more information.

Update - 21st June 2017

Please bring any empty plastic bottles or cardboard boxes into the school. We need as many as we can get!

Update - 20th June 2017

The tech group had the opportunity to visit Oasis Academy and learn about their recording and lighting facilities. They then returned to school to create dioramas of the key settings in the production.

Update - May 2017

The tech group have been busy interviewing the other groups to find out their experiences of the project so far. Look back here for the outcome!]

The performance group have been beginning to put together aspects of each scene.

The business team have been making posters for the performance and putting together strategies to raise money for the performance. If anybody knows of any companies that would be willing to sponsor the school to help put on the show that would be greatly appreciated.

The design team have been working alongside Sofie Layton to make butterflies and scenery for the refugee camp.

Update - April 2017

All children were initially split into 4 groups:

- Performance
- Tech
- Buisness
- Design

Working alongside Keys Meadow staff, the children were also able to learn from the aerial artists from Scarabeus (Daniela and Soren) and Sofie Layton (artist).

They have really taken to their groups and are excited about putting the show together!

 Update - April 2017

Soar Phase children have been exposed to the concept of immigration after watching the Flight phase performance of Exodus.

They have begun reading the book La Mariposa by Francisco Jimenez to learn about the struggle of a migrant in a new country. This book will form the basis of the forthcoming production and all learning this term.
