School governors are ordinary people from the local community who wish to make a positive contribution to children’s education. They are the largest volunteer force in the country and have an important part to play in raising school standards through their three key roles of setting the strategic direction of the School, ensuring accountability, and being the School’s ‘critical friend’.

Almost anyone can become a school governor. All new governors receive training and support from the School, the Local Authority and their fellow governors. If you are interested in assisting the School in this way, please ask the School Office for further details.

Welcome to the Governing Body of Keys Meadow.

Our Governing Body works in partnership with the Headteacher and staff to develop further the quality of education at Keys Meadow. The main aim of our Governing Body is to promote high standards and to help the School provide the best possible education for its pupils, whilst at the same time preserving and developing the character of the School.

The Governing Body is responsible for the long-term development of the School, not for the day-to-day decisions and management, which is the legal responsibility of the Headteacher. The Governing Body is interested in such things as overall standards of achievement of pupils; how pupils of different genders, capability, ethnic or social background are progressing at the School; the overall balance and quality of education offered to pupils; safeguarding of pupils; Health & Safety of staff and pupils; how the School works with parents and the local community; priorities of the School Development Plan; how the School’s budget is being managed and the School’s policies. The Governing Body supports the School, but is prepared to ask challenging questions.

Governors visit the School regularly and participate and join in School events. As Chair of Governors, I attend weekly meetings of the School Leadership Team. Governors attend meetings of the Junior Leadership Team and of the Parent Representatives.

The Governing Body Membership as at February 2019 is:
